Frist Part of Pea Harvest

Today we picked the first lot of peas, most of which we freeze to use throughout the coming year.

Firstly we pod them.

Then blanch for 4 minutes.

Refresh under running cold water also for 4 minutes, a wooden spoon under the bowl helps to direct the water out at only one place but keep bowl close to sink side to stop them escaping !

Drain in a colander.

Put in bags, I find a Jam Funnel is a great help with this.
Ready to freeze.

I`m still here.

Due to been a bit busy in the real world, I seem to be getting a bit spasmodic with my blogging just lately. I have a lot of things backing up to blog about but in the meantime here in picture form is what I`ve been up to of late.

The following Tuesday I saw The Expelaires and The Lost souls play the Pack Horse, Leeds. The gig was amazing it was packed with 50 odd year old Punks and Goths!

Kirkstall Festival 2013

Today was the 2013 Kirkstall Festival and I was helping on the Tia Greyhound Rescue stall. It was the first time I had done that and it went quite well. I`m glad that we were in the shade because today was one of the hottest days of the year.

The Festival is in the picturesque grounds of the 12th Century Kirkstall Abbey. The Festival is probably the largest community festival in Leeds run entirely by volunteers.

Although it is not a Rock Festival, or a County Show, but an event that entertains people of all ages with events including: Fairground, Over 100 stalls, Tea Dance, Comedy; Rock, Classical, Jazz, Folk and Light music performances in 8 areas, the Opening Procession and various displays.
