Kirkstall Festival 2013

Today was the 2013 Kirkstall Festival and I was helping on the Tia Greyhound Rescue stall. It was the first time I had done that and it went quite well. I`m glad that we were in the shade because today was one of the hottest days of the year.

The Festival is in the picturesque grounds of the 12th Century Kirkstall Abbey. The Festival is probably the largest community festival in Leeds run entirely by volunteers.

Although it is not a Rock Festival, or a County Show, but an event that entertains people of all ages with events including: Fairground, Over 100 stalls, Tea Dance, Comedy; Rock, Classical, Jazz, Folk and Light music performances in 8 areas, the Opening Procession and various displays.

  2. I think that festival sounds excellent. All the festivals around here has gone bankrupt when people will get paid for working at the festival and arranging it.

    1. Although Leeds is a big city, Kirkstall Festival manages to keep the feel of a small town show, okay we had rock bands and food stalls but also a lot of community stalls like us (Tia Greyhounds) and the Scouts etc.

    1. We have all sorts of things like this all over the place in the UK. Call them Country Shows, Village fates, Carnivals or Festivals weather in small villages or towns and cities with things sort of mix and match, all a bit different with their own special feeling which (hopefully) makes it a great day out….weather permitting !
