Settle Parish Church

On our weekend away we visited two cemeteries, the largest was in Settle.
Settle Parish Church
Not been dedicated to a saint and just called Settle Parish Church. It was built to designs by Thomas Rickman, the church was consecrated in 1838. There is a stained glass by William Morris, to a design by Burne-Jones

  1. I'm taking a stained glass course ... do you have a picture of the Wm. Morris window? You know, so I can see how far I have go before I can even attempt a window like it? LOL

Actually, I didn't even know Morris did stained glass - along with all his other accomplishments!

    1. Good luck with your course. I double checked the churches page, then Wikipedia yes Morris did do stained glass, there are a few pics on his Wikipedia page. but I did take any at the church. it is only 41 mile from me so I am bound to be back sooner or later.

  3. The church is on the edge of the town which was by-passed about 10 years ago. Settle is only small but its architecture is fantastic I the love the place. We were in our caravan about 5 miles north, on Sunday morning the midges went mad I thought we were been eaten alive, I`m covered in bite marks.

    1. That sucks. I hate it when insects come and try to eat the poor humans alive while humans are only trying to enjoy the beautiful tombstones and architecture!
